Rare Full set solid 18ct gold Bulova Accutron from 1962, 214 movement, single family ownership. It comes with it's outer box in outstanding condition with a beautiful finish.

Inside is the original genuine leather Accutron box, along side the purchase receipt from December 11th 1962, the instruction booklet/guarantee and a further Garrard receipt from 1973 for a battery change.

The watch was sold to H.Lapworth ESQ, of 6 Manor Park Road, Nuneaton, Warwickshire. The original purchase cost was £168-15 shillings. Accounting for inflation, in todays money that was a retail price of £3068. This watch was truly revolutionary at the time and wasn't the every month, or every year, purchase for someone in the 1960s.

M1 date code with patent number D26014. English hallmarking, London Assay Office for 18ct gold. Inside the case is the classic Bulova 214 movement with the Patent number 2.971.323.

The original buckle remains on the watch. It is marked Bulova and is solid 9ct gold. The watch comes on it's Garrard strap, which is original from it's purchase from Garrards in 1962. The buckle is on this strap. There is also a spare NOS Bulova Accutron strap, made of Lizard grain, marked Swiss CA.

You will not find a better 18ct Gold Accutron on the market. This watch is very close to NOS condition, clearly having been cherished and rarely worn in it's 58 years of life. Full details of condition below under the relevant sections.

The watch is keeping time to within +1 second a day and is fitted with a new Renata 394 battery.

Dial:
The dial is in excellent overall condition. Sadly there is one flaw with the 10 o'clock hour baton being slightly corroded, which has slightly pooled or the surround on the dial. This is perfectly passable though with the excellent condition of the rest of the dial and doesn't notice very much. It's unrealistic to expect every aspect of a 58 year old watch to be perfect, however this is pretty near.

Hands: The hands are original and have their original Lume infill intact. They are gold toned, in perfect original condition, with no scratching, corrosion or bending.

Glass: The crystal is original and has no noticeable scratches, in excellent original condition.

Crown: The crown is located on the back and is solid 18ct gold, in excellent original condition.

Case: The heavy, beautifully crafted solid 18ct gold case is in excellent condition, with no signs of anything more than surface scratching, and no dents. The watch has never been polished. There are some service markings, scratched onto the lugs lightly. These will polish. These aren't ideal, but fit with the single person ownership and show the watch has been cared for throughout it's life.

Caseback: The case back is in excellent original condition. It has some light surface scratching, but no signs of wear or significant change in the original finish.

Strap: The watch comes on it's Garrard strap, which is original from it's purchase from Garrards in 1962. The original buckle remains on the watch. It is marked Bulova and is solid 9ct gold. There is also a spare NOS Bulova Accutron strap, made of Lizard grain, marked Swiss CA.

Movement: A beautiful Bulova Accutron 214 movement, keeping time to within +1 second a day, with a new battery fitted.
