Rare 1970s Zodiac Olympos SST Automatic watch, Blue dial, cal 86, Ref. 862 964.

This is a beautiful and rare model, in very good condition. It demonstrates classic features of 1970s design, with its large Barrel/TV shaped, Stainless Steel case, measuring 39mm width, by 42.5mm lug to lug length. The case is chunky, with a 12.5mm depth.

The inclusion of the Blue on the bezel and central links of the bracelet is a fascinating design feature which makes this watch pop.

The dial is excellent, with a brushed finish matching that of the case. The deep, dark blue colour, fades to light blue and then white. This is a very eye catching dial, that is high quality, in very good condition. There is a chapter ring under the glass which has the baton hour markers. This adds depth to the dial and a clear 3 dimensional effect, as opposed to markers set on the dial.

The bracelet is in very good condition and is the original Zodiac Stainless Steel bracelet. The buckle is signed with the Zodiac logo. The central links are blued, matching the bezel colour.

Note: The strap is on the small side and it will only fit up to a 17.75cm wrist (7" diameter).

The movement is a Zodiac calibre 86 Automatic movement, with 21 jewels. The movement is hi-beat with a frequency of 36,000. It has a day date feature, alongside hacking. It is keeping time to -50 seconds a day with an amplitude of 250 and a beat error of 0.5 m/s. A movement in healthy condition, but not serviced by ourselves.
