This is a classy and elegant 18k gold dress watch with a neat yet complex case that plays with the light well whilst hugging the wrist neatly. The dial is clean and minimalistic with gold arrow markers and Dauphine hands which fit the premium dress watch perfectly. Inside is an early Bidynator patented bi-directional winding automatic movement from Felsa, signed Piaget on the rotor. The watch is all original apart from the crystal which was replaced during a Piaget service in 2017. The case was also sympathetically polished by Piaget in 2017.

Restoration of the watch cost the previous owner £1190. When you are buying the watch, you are not only buying a beautiful piece of design in 18k gold with a great movement, but you are also buying piece of mind with a manufacturer restoration within the last 5 years. The watch comes with a Piaget service box, along with service paperwork and Piaget bag, which is nice mix of vintage and modern accompaniments.

The case is an excellent size for a 1950s dress watch at 36mm x 36mm. The case is made from 18k gold and is slim, but well-crafted and heavy. It is in very good condition, having been sympathetically polished by Piaget in 2017. The case looks very fresh and the polished finish suits the look of the watch as the case has elegant and thin lugs at the point of the case, which spill into a larger diameter where the lugs meet the strap.

The case is neat yet has subtle complexity. The bezel is raised which creates a step in the case adding texture which helps to frame the dial.

The dial has a silver satin finish which has a light spotted patina scattered across the dial evenly. It is in good condition for an original dial dating to the 1950s.

The signing to the dial is clear with Piaget Automatic at 12, with Swiss made below 6 O’clock. The minute markers are subtle, applied gold dots. Larger dots represent 5-minute graduations. The hour markers are incredibly well crafted and are applied. They are of arrow style, with a facet running along them which reflects the light.

The hands are original in a gold tone. They are of a Facetted Dauphine style with the gold finish being very bright and shining beautifully in the light.

The crystal is a replacement by Piaget in 2017. It is in very good condition with no noticeable scratching. The crown is original and is made of gold. It functions as it should. It has a beautiful coin edge finish.

The case back is 18ct gold and is a screw back. It is opened with a flat sided opener and it is dodecagon in shape. The case back is in good condition with only light surface scratching to the main surface. The flats have some slight marks on them from opening. It was polished sympathetically by Piaget in 2017.

The inside has a scrape in it which seems to fit with the rotor rubbing. This will have been prior to it’s Piaget service. It is signed: Piaget Swiss, 18k. It has the head of Helvetia which is Swiss hallmarking for 18ct gold. The reference number is: 11690.

The strap is a new Condor Lizard Grain strap for 22mm lug width.  It will fit up to an 8” wrist size.

The movement is original and is a Felsa calibre 1560. This was often known as the Bidynator movement, a patented name for bi-directional winding technology with the automatic rotor. It has 25 jewels, a frequency of 18,000 BPH and a power reserve of 44 hours. The rotor is signed with the Piaget logo.

The watch was serviced in July of 2017 by Piaget at a cost of £1190 by the previous owner.

The watch has a daily gain of +25 seconds, with an amplitude of 270 and a beat error of 0.1m/s.
