Here we have a new old stock 1960s Rone dress watch with the gold-plated case and the silver sunburst dial. It is marked as the reference 10-77. The case measures 33.5mm wide and has the slim profile with neat lugs. To the right is the crown which has the Royce logo. The dial has the silver sunburst finish with the applied gold tone baton hour markers. It has the classic index style hour and minute hands. The case back is stainless steel with the Royce logo and has the original sticker to the back. Inside it is marked ‘S.Kocher’. The movement is the AS 1690/92 which is a 17-jewel manual wind movement with shockproofing. It is keeping accurate time. It is presented on an original ‘Dutch made’ leather strap.

We love this watch due to its minimalist dress design and slim profile. Every collection needs a slim dress piece for evening wear and at an affordable price point, this can provide that.

It is new old stock with the original sticker to the back. The gold plating has developed a beautiful oil slick tarnishing with blue and purple tones. We have left this as we feel it gives an interesting appearance.

The dial is the classic dress design with the silver satin finish and the brushed radial sunburst. It has the elegant, elongated applied baton hour markers, with the double marker at 12 o’clock. Below 12 it is signed with the ‘Royce’ name and winged logo. Above 6 o’clock it is marked as ’17 jewels’ and ‘Incabloc’. To the base it is signed ‘Swiss’. The hands are of a similar thin and elegant design as the hour markers. They are of the index style in the gold tone with bright polished finish.

The case is neatly proportioned measuring 33.5mm x 33.5mm, with a width with crown of 35mm. It has the total lug-to-lug length of 40.25mm which adds to the presence on the wrist. It has a slim depth of just under 8.5mm which makes it a comfortable wear. The 18mm lug width allows for a well sized strap.

The case has the three-piece construction with the snap-on bezel, centre body and snap-on case back. The bezel is gold plated with the polished finish and subtle angle sloping towards the wrist. The lugs are a thin and neat, slightly tapered design, with the angular bevelled tips. From the side profile the lugs are deeper than they appear from the front, adding presence to the otherwise very slim case. To the right-hand side is the neat coin edge crown which has the Royce logo set within a shield. To the rear is the stainless-steel snap-on case back, which is protected by the original sticker. It has the brushed finish to the face with the polished exterior. It has the Royce logo to the centre with the reference 10-77 below, along with the specifics of the watch surrounding it.

The watch is powered by the AS calibre 1690/92. It is a good quality 17 jewel manual wind movement, which has shock protection. The service history is not known, but it currently keeps accurate time to within 5 seconds variation per day.

The watch is presented on its original leather strap which is marked as ‘Dutch made’.

The watch is modelled on a 7” (17.78cm) wrist circumference.

The dial is excellent original condition with no marking or ageing. The hour markers have the bright gold shine.

Hands:
The hands are in excellent original condition with a bright gold shine.

Glass:
The acrylic crystal is the original and is in very good condition with only a couple of light marks from storage.

Crown:
The crown is original and is in excellent original condition.

Case:
The case is gold plated and is in very good original condition. It has light scratching from storage and has developed a tarnishing associated with age.

Case back:
The case back is in excellent original condition with the original sticker attached.

Strap:
The watch comes on a its original ‘Dutch made’ leather strap which is in good, supple condition.

Movement:
The watch is powered by the AS calibre 1690/92. It is a good quality 17 jewel manual wind movement, which has shock protection. The service history is not known, but it is keeping accurate time to within +5 seconds a day, with an amplitude of 240 degrees and a 0.1 m/s beat error.
