Here we have a July 1990 Seiko Chronograph Moonphase reference 7T36-6A1A. It is a function packed watch, displaying the hours, minutes, small seconds, 1/5th second chronograph, chronograph seconds, Split time, 12 hour alarm/second time zone, moonphase and date. It has the 38mm stainless steel case with the tachymetre scale to the polished bezel. It has the crown to the right-hand side with the three pushers and the alarm crown to the bottom right. It has a lovely dark grey/black sunburst dial with the grey sub-dials. The case back screws down and has the model signing and reference. The movement is the Seiko calibre 7T36 which is a meca-quartz chronograph. It has a new battery fitted and functions well, keeping accurate time.

All I have to say on this watch is that, for the price point, with this level of function, this is an excellent piece. These are undervalued watches due the design, quality of build and level of functionality.

Speaking of quality of build, the dial is exceptional. It has the raised chapter ring to the exterior with the detailed 1/5th second graduated seconds track in white. The dial has the deep grey sunburst finish which radiates in the light. It has the applied pill shaped hour markers which are the silver polished tone. There are four sub-dials, each with the silver polished ring surrounding them and the lighter grey tone centre in the matte finish. The top sub-dial has the cut out for the monophase, with the 30 minute counter track and hand too. The sub-dial at 9 o’clock has the constant seconds, with the date indicator at the three o’clock sub-dial. At 6 O’clock is the alarm sub-dial, which can act as a faux second time zone.

The hands are of the lance index style with the silver polished tone and white painted centre. The central second hand has the white painted finish and the shield shaped counterbalance. The sub-dial hands have the polished finish to the centre with the white painted finish to the rest.

The Stainless case is well proportioned, measuring 38mm x 38mm. It has the lug-to-lug measurement of 43mm which further adds to the presence and is a comfortable wear with its slim depth of 9.5mm.

It has the polished bezel surrounding the dial, with the engraved and black infilled tachymeter scale. The bezel has the curved finish with the thin notch below. The main section of the case has the satin brushed finish, with the thin tapered lugs. There is a thin bevel to the edge of the case, leading to the flat sides. To the right-hand side is the chronograph start pusher to the top, with the crown below. There is the further crown below this for the alarm setting. The pushers to the right stop and reset the chronograph.

The case back screws in place and has the circular brushing with the radial sunburst finish. It is engraved with the model reference and the Seiko signing, with the specifics of the model. Inside it has the original sticker, providing guidance on battery change.

The movement is the Seiko calibre 7T36B which is a 0 jewel meca-quartz movement. As mentioned, it displays the hours, minutes, small seconds, 1/5th second chronograph, chronograph seconds, Split time, 12 hour alarm/second time zone, moonphase and date. It has a new battery fitted and functions well, keeping accurate time.

The watch is modelled on a 7” wrist circumference.
