The Citizen Challenge Timer Chronograph, known affectionately as the bullhead, was first introduced in 1978. This particular reference is the 67-9356. This model has a beautiful octagonal case which makes it the most desirable reference.

The Stainless-Steel case is in good condition. It is at home on any sized wrist. This is due to its good case width and length, without being excessively big. It also has a 12.5mm case depth which gives it a great prescence. The Octagonal shape also makes it wear much larger than its measurements due to the way it interacts with light. The round bezel is polished and the glass crystal sits flat into this. The lower section of the case drops towards the bracelet and the upper part, flat, hosting the crown and two pushers. All the front sections are brushed from top to bottom, with the top surface brushed from side to side. The sides of the case are polished to reflect the light. From the front, there are 21 different surfaces.

The case back is stainless steel and is in good condition.  It has light surface scratches to the polished finish. It is signed “Citizen Watch Co. 4-901223 TA, 90800212, GN-4W-S, 67-9356”. It is also signed “All Stainless Steel, Water-Resistant, Japan”. It is a screw back.

The dial is original and is in good original condition. One point of mention is the wear to the 120 and 110 marking on the tachymeter.

The dial is a black matte powder base tone. The Sub-dials are white which has aged to a cream tone. The top two are inset into the dial. Whilst the lower day date sub-dial is painted. The hour markers are applied baton markers, with a lume strip and pip. They have a polished finish. The Citizen logo is applied in a silver tone, with polished finish. The dial is signed Chronograph, Automatic, 23 Jewels. The outer section of the dial has the seconds and millisecond markers, with an outer tachymeter scale.

The hands are original and are in good condition. The crystal is original and is in average condition. It has one scratch that’s visible in certain lights. It has a facetted edge which has some slight chips near 6 O’clock.

The crown is Stainless Steel, original and in good condition with a polished finish and some light surface scratching. It is signed “CTZ”. The pushers are Stainless Steel, original and in good condition, with a polished finish and some light surface scratching.

The watch is on a period correct Stainless-Steel Citizen bracelet. It is not reference original but it looks excellent. It will fit up to an 8.5-inch wrist. It is in good condition, with a polished finish. It has some light surface scratches associated with ageing.
