A stunning, all original Art Deco, Mid 1920s, Election Grand Prix 18ct gold tank watch, curved case, cal. 62 movement. Excellent condition and all round a very impressive, well sized, Art Deco watch. Case back marked "Election Grand Prix Berne 1914". English hallmarking on the case back for 18ct gold, which has worn. From what is legible, the mark would appear to be for Glasgow assay office, with the shape of the date letter surround indicating it is from the 1920's. I would guess the mark is a "d" or a "g" meaning it is 1926 or 1929.

Dial:
The dial has a subtly curved profile and is in excellent, original condition. It is a silvered/white colour with no signs of discolouration.
It is signed with the Election "E" logo and Election Grand Prix at 12 o'clock. The dial is marked "Swiss made" at 6 o'clock. The sub second dial is sunk in the middle adding nice depth to the dial. The sub seconds track is clear with no marking or wear, with the sub second hand fitting the margins of the sunk dial well.
The minute and hour track is in strong condition, with no wear to numerals or track. This is in impressive condition for the age.

Hands:

The hands are un-bent and un-corroded. They are thermally blued Breguet hands.

The sub-second hand is thermally viewed and fits the margin of the sunk dial well.

All hands would appear to be original.

Glass:

The glass is original and in exceptional condition perfectly fitting the cases curvature.

Crown:

The crown is original and fits flush to the case and winds and sets well.

Case:

The case is in strong condition with only a few VERY light surface scratches. A very nice original case that hasn't been polished.

Lugs:

The lugs are fixed solid 18ct gold.

Case back:

Has worn slightly due to wear against the wrist. Only light surface scratches.

Movement:

The movement is manual wind and functions extremely well on the timegrapher, gaining +30 seconds per day with 1.8ms beat error and a frequency of 250 degrees, all of which are very acceptable for a watch of this age with no known service history. The inside of the case does have many service engravings which show it has been well cared for. This is also evidenced by the general condition. Time keeping has also been trialed multiple times on the wrist and it preforms well.
