Here we have a beautiful example of an antique Victorian 1900 18ct yellow gold Signet ring, set with the shield shaped bloodstone to the head. It is an impactful and substantial ring with a weight of 10.2g. The deep green hues and red speckles of the bloodstone are highlighted by the warm yellow tone of the gold, which provides a striking contrast. The bloodstone is surrounded by the shield shape in yellow gold with the bevelled edges. The shoulders are luxurious, curving to each side to meet the head. The double banded design either side further adds texture and complexity to the design. Overall, the ring has a strong, regal feel created by its bold design and weight. It is a well sized gents ring, UK size ‘U’. It has the makers marks ‘S.D’ registered with Chester assay office.
It has hallmarking from Chester assay office, with the date letter ‘R’ corresponding to the year 1900. The hallmarking is clearly defined, in very good antique condition.
The bloodstone is free of any engraving or ships to the face or bevelled edge.
The shank, shoulders and head are in good antique condition, with clearly defined curves and lines. The ring has only light surface scratching.
