For sale we have a very attractive and well-designed Omega Constellation from the late 1990s – early 2000s. It has its original Pictogram card and Chronometer Certificate.
The reference 368.1201 has a 36mm wide Two-Tone case, which is made of Stainless Steel with 18k gold bezel. The top and bottom of the case are facetted, creating an interesting angular design. The finish is brushed which catches the light nicely.
A circular bezel frames the dial, whilst the tonneau shaped case has an excellent presence at 41.5mm in length. The bezel is a beautiful piece of design, with engraved Roman numerals on the bezel infilled with black. There are two raised and polished notches at 9 O’clock and 3 O’clock.
The snap on back has a brushed, linear grained finish. To the centre is the famous Observatory medallion which is raised with a polished finish. To the rear is the serial number, whilst the inside of the case back is signed with the reference 368.1201.
The dial is a bright gold tone with a diamond shaped cross hatch finish. This finely engine turned finish is like a waffle dial texture. The structure of the diamonds shapes catches in the light and is an excellent and complicated finish.
The hour markers are applied and of a baton style and are a semi cylindrical in shape. They are a gold tone and have lume plots to the base. The second track is detailed with 1/5th second graduations for accuracy. There is a date window at 3 O’clock which is nicely designed with a gold frame, giving way to a facetted finish. The window itself is a light gold speckled tone with black Arabic numerals. The dial is signed Omega below 12 O’clock with applied gold tone Omega logo. Above 6 O’clock it is signed Constellation in the traditional font, with Chronometer Automatic below. It has the bright applied star logo below. It is signed Swiss Made to the foot of the dial.
The hands are of facetted Dauphine style. They are a gold tone and have a bevel to the centre which catches the light. The middle has lume in-fill. The central second hand is large and original with a nice rectangular counterbalance.
The Sapphire crystal is original and is in very good condition with no marks. The gold crown is original and is Omega signed with a nice coin edge finish.
The watch comes on its original Omega Stainless Steel and 18ct gold bracelet. It is the reference 1551/861. It has a Stainless-Steel folding clasp which is signed with the Omega logo. It will currently fit a 7.5” wrist, with two spare links that will make it suitable for any wrist size. It is in good condition with a brushed finish. It has light surface scratching associated with ageing.
The movement is an Omega calibre 1120 Automatic movement. It is a COSC certified movement of very good quality. It is keeping time to within +5 seconds a day, with an amplitude of 290 degrees and a beat error of 0.1m/s.

Dial:

Case:
The case is made of Stainless Steel with 18k gold accents. Despite a traditionally smaller 36mm case width, the 41.5mm case length and shape of the case give this watch an excellent wrist presence.
The 18ct gold bezel is circular and raised, framing the dial with a flat sapphire crystal. It has a subtle curvature which meets the case neatly. There are engraved roman numerals on the bezel, which are infilled in a black tone. There are two raised and polished notches at 9 O’clock and 3 O’clock.
This gives way to the tonneau shaped case. The top and bottom of the case are facetted, creating an interesting angular design. The finish is brushed which catches the light nicely. The case falls away from the bezel before a slight bevel to meet the brushed sides. It is in good condition, having light scratches to the original finish. There is one light scratch one impacts the finish between 5 and 6 O’clock.
Caseback:
It is a snap on back which is in very good original condition. The flat face has a brushed, linear grained finish. To the centre is the famous Constellation Observatory logo which is raised with a polished finish. The edges of the back have a polished finish. All the finishes are in good original condition, with only light surface scratching. Inside it has perlage finishing and is signed; Acier Inoxydable, Omega Watch Co, Swiss Made, GRSA, 368.1201.
Bracelet:
The watch comes on its original Omega Stainless Steel and 18ct gold bracelet. It is the reference 1551/861. It has a Stainless-Steel folding clasp which is signed with the Omega logo. It will currently fit a 7.5” wrist, with two spare links that will make it suitable for any wrist size. It is in good condition with a brushed finish. Movement:
The movement is an Omega calibre 1120 Automatic movement. It is based on the ETA 2892-A2. It is significantly modified from the ETA, with a higher jewel count of 23, COSC grade and a 3 arm Glucydur balance. In terms of features, it has hacking seconds, a date function and displays the hours and minutes. It has a power reserve of 44 hours and a frequency of 28,800 BPH. The movement is very clean and is in very good condition. It is keeping time to within +5 seconds a day, with an amplitude of 290 degrees and a beat error of 0.1m/s.
