Here we have a lovely example of a 1996 Must de Cartier tank watch. It is the reference 1615 which has a unisex case sizing of 23.3mm wide x 23mm long, with a lug-to-lug length of 31.2mm. The case is formed of silver with the gold ‘Vermeil’ plating. To the right it has the original sapphire cabochon crown. It has the ‘Lemon’ dial which catches the eye with its subtle yellow tone. It has the classic radial roman numerals with the rectangular railroad minute track. Set within the 7 o’clock marker is the hidden Cartier signing. The hands are of sword style with the bright thermally blued tone. The case back has the Cartier signing with reference number and serial. It also has the hallmarking. Inside is the Cartier calibre 690 Quartz movement, which has been recently serviced and is keeping accurate time. The watch comes with its original booklet and the signed guarantee, which is dated 1996.
The tank is one of the most iconic case shapes in wristwatch history. Sleek, elegant and timeless. Sitting neatly on the wrist or peeking out from under a cuff. A dress watch to its core that is so effortlessly cool it can be worn in any scenario and still looks perfect.
The has the ‘Lemon’ dial which has the subtle yellow tone. It has the lacquered finish which has some slight fractures or ‘spidering’ as expected with age. The tone is good and even with the black roman numerals. The Cartier secret signing is within the 7 o’clock marker. The minute track is of the classic railroad design, following the shape of the case. It is signed below 12 o’clock with the ‘must de Cartier’ name. To the base it is signed ‘Swiss’. The hands are of the classic Sword style with the bright thermally blued finish, which catches the eye.
The case is a classic unisex sizing measuring 23.35mm wide without crown and 23mm long. The lug-to-lug length sits at 31.2mm. It has the flat front of the case which holds the subtly curved sapphire crystal. The sides of the case have the rounded tips of the lugs with the curved sides. To the right is the original dimpled crown with the sapphire cabochon inset. There is wear to the plating on the tips of the lugs, with the silver tone visible.
The case back is flat with the linear brushed finish. It has the ‘must de Cartier Tank’ signing with the reference, serial number and case configuration. It has the French hallmarking for silver.
It is held in place with the four screws which are all original with the gold tone.
Inside is the Cartier 690 which is a Quartz calibre. It has 8 jewels and is time only with the hour and minute display. It has the Genève stripes to the bridges. It has been recently serviced with a new battery fitted. It is keeping accurate time.
It is on a genuine leather strap which is non-Cartier. It has the original gold plated Cartier buckle.
It comes with an aftermarket Cartier style box. It has its original paperwork hard folder with the instructions, booklet and signed guarantee. The original Guarantee is dated 14th November 1996. It was purchased from Cartier on New Bond Street in London.
The watch has been well and regularly maintained with multiple service receipts provided from 1996-2013.
The watch is modelled on a 7” wrist circumference.

Dial:
The dial is original and is in good condition. It is a bright, even tone. The signing is good and clear with no wear. There are slight hairline fractures within the lacquered finish.
Hands:
The hands are original and have the bright thermally blued finish. It has no visible marking.
Glass:
The sapphire crystal is original and is in strong condition. It has some light marks but nothing that detracts from the dial.
Crown:
The crown is original and is in good condition with only light marking. The sapphire cabochon is good with no chips.
Case:
The case is a silver base with the gold-plated finish. It has wear to the tips of the lugs with the silver tone showing through. It has light scratches associated with age.
Case back:
The case back is in good condition with the linear brushed finish. The engraving is good and clear. There are light marks. The screws are good and original.
Strap:
The watch comes on a genuine leather strap which is non-Cartier. The gold plated buckle is original Cartier.
