Here we have a very good example of a 1990s Zenith El Primero Flyback Chronograph, reference 02.0470.405. It has the 40mm stainless steel case, which is water resistant to 100m. It has the bi-directional rotating bezel with the 60 minute counter and the luminous triangle at 12. The black dial has the tachymeter chapter ring around the outside, with the detailed 1/5th seconds track and clear, luminous arabic numerals. The sub-dials are inset, with constant seconds at 9, 30 minute counter at 3 and 12 hour counter at 6. The date window is offset between 4 and 5 o’clock. The luminous is bright to the hour markers and hands. 
The pushers sit to the right-hand side, either side of the chunky crown. 
To the rear is the screwback with the brushed finish and polished centre. The centre had the ‘Rainbow’, ‘Fly-back’ signing with the Zenith logo. Inside is the Zenith El Primero calibre 405Z. It is the automatic chronograph movement with a jewel count of 31 and a hi-beat rate of 36,000 BPH. It is keeping excellent time and functioning perfectly having been recently serviced by Zenith.
 
The watch comes on its original Zenith stainless steel bracelet, which will fit up to a 7.25” wrist. It has the eyecatching design with brushed finishing, with hidden fold over clasp. 
 
It has undergone a full service through Zenith in February 2025. It is under guarantee until February 2026. It had a new crown, bracelet repair, new sub-dial hands and a new bezel insert. It maintains the old bezel inset and some of the other parts.
 
The joy of the El Primero movement, with its host of functions and reliability, in a robust design. What more could you want?
 
The watch is modelled on a 7” wrist diameter.

The case is stainless steel and is in good original condition. The brushed finishing is good with no marking visible. 
 
Caseback:
The case back is stainless steel and is in good condition. It has the original circular brushed finish. The reference engraving is good and clear. The polished finish has some light marks.
 
Bracelet:
The watch is on its original bracelet. It will fit up to a 7.25” wrist circumference. 
 
Movement: 
The movement is a Zenith calibre 405Z. It is an automatic chronograph movement, with a jewel count of 31. It has a hi-beat frequency of 36,000 BPH and a 50-hour power reserve. 
It displays the hours, minutes, small seconds, 12-hour counter, 30-minute counter, and central 60 second hand. It also has the quickset date function.
 
The movement has been recently serviced by Zenith It’s keeping time to within 5 seconds variation a day.
