For sale we have a nice example of a 1990s Wittnauer dress watch. It has a gold-plated case, with a streamlined case design. The dial has a champagne sunburst finish, with applied gold tone baton hour markers. It also has the Wittnauer signing below 12 and a date window to 3 O’clock. The bezel has a fixed count down scale. To the rear is the exhibition case back which allows you to enjoy the beauty of the ETA 2824-2 movement. The movement is keeping accurate time to within + 5 seconds a day.

The case measures 36mm x 35.25mm, with a lug-to-lug measurement of 42mm, making this a neat watch with classic proportions. The lugs are thin, of a tapered design, which blends neatly into the case. To the right there is a notched crown guard, with the crown recessed. The bezel features raised sectors, following a count-down dive design. It is a fixed bezel, which is somewhat unusual, but it is a feature of the watch which catches the eye with the texture.

The dial has a champagne sunburst finish, with applied gold tone baton hour markers. The hour markers have a black stripe running down the centre, with lume plots to the base. There are simple dash minute markers inbetween. It has the Wittnauer signing below 12, with an underlining with nicely design W within. It is signed Automatic in Italics, above 6 o’clock. The date window is at 3 O’clock, with the black framing and bevelled edges, leading to a white window with black arabic numerals. The hands are of Sword style, in a gold tone with luminous in-fill.

To the rear, there is a stainless-steel screw back which has an exhibition glass, allowing the movement to be viewed. The movement is a gold tone which matches the case of the watch. It is an ETA 2824-2 movement, with date function, which is keeping time to within +5 seconds a day. It has a hi-beat rate of 28,800 BPH with shock protection. It is a well-known, beautiful workhorse of a movement.

Overall, this is a stylish and unusual 1990s watch. It has neat design touches with its champagne sunburst dial, case design and exhibition case back with the quality ETA movement.
