Here we have good example of a gents 1990s Omega Constellation calendar watch with the 33mm stainless steel case with the 18ct gold bezel and accents. It is a standout neo-vintage watch with the two-tone finishing and T-bar lug design. The gold bezel had the black in-filled roman numerals contrasting nicely with the simple off-white dial. The dial has the gold dot hour markers with the gold framed day and date sub-dial. It has the classic ‘Omega’ ‘Constellation’ signing. It has the signed Omega crown. To the rear is the snap on back with the Constellation observatory symbol. Inside is the ETA calibre 255.471 quartz movement with the Omega signing. It comes on a new Omega leather strap.
It also comes in a period Omega box.
An often overlooked and under loved period of Constellation, the 1980s into the 90s saw a new evolution. The use of the roman numerals on the bezel became the hallmark of the collection. We see these as and elegant, yet standout neo-vintage design. It evokes Cartier-esque styling with the two-tone finishing and T-bar lug design.
The bezel sits nicely on the top of the case, adding depth and intrigue to the design. The circular brushed finish is clean, with the matte black in-fill of the roman numerals providing contrast. The double markers at 9 and 3 flow over the sides of the case. The case is well proportioned with the 33mm diameter. The top has a brushed bevel with the polished sides being flat. The neat crown sits to the right with the Omega logo. The lugs are of T bar style with the central section extending from the case, with the gold screw bars holding the strap. The strap is of the central cut out design to fit.
The off-white dial is clean with the railroad minute track to the exterior. The gold dot hour markers are set within the dial, catching the eye. They dovetail well with the polished gold tone surround to the sub-dials. Both the day and date dial have the thermally blued hands. The dial has the Omega logo and signing, with the ‘Constellation’ signing above 6. It is signed ‘Swiss Made’ either side of 6 O’clock. The hands are mirror polished in the gold tone with the subtle black stripe to the centre. They have the original luminous in-fill which is clean and complete. The central second has the rounded rectangle design.
The rear of the watch has the polished surround with the two screws to either side, holding the gold accents in place. The snap on back has the brushed finish with the Constellation Observatory logo. Inside it is signed with the reference 1980155. Inside is the ETA calibre 255.471 quartz movement with the Omega signing. It displays the hours, minutes, central seconds, day and date. It has had a new battery fitted and is functioning well.
The watch is presented on a new genuine leather Omega strap, which is designed for the central cut out. It has an aftermarket gold plated Omega buckle.
It comes in the period Omega box, which is slim, with the deep red tone.
The watch is modelled on a 7” wrist circumference.
