Here we have a sweet 1990s Ladies Cartier ‘Santos de Cartier’ Vendôme, with the T-bar lug design and Ronde case. It is the reference 8191 which is a 27mm case with the two-tone finish with 18ct gold bezel and stainless case. It has the classic Santos steel screws to the bezel. To the right is the Octagonal crown, set with the Cartier Sapphire cabochon. The dial is the aged white tone with the sector layout. It has the railroad minute track to the exterior with the bold roman numerals. It is simply signed with the Cartier name below 12 and Swiss to the base below 6. The Cartier hidden text sits within the V of the 7 o’clock marker. The hands are of the classic sword style in the thermally blued tone. The case back is signed with the serial number to the base. It is held in place with 8 screws. Inside is the Cartier calibre 81 quartz movement which has been recently serviced, with a new battery fitted. It is keeping accurate time.

Cartier have sophistication running through their DNA that enables the creation of iconic and timeless watches. The ‘Santos de Cartier’ Vendôme Ronde was a fresh take on the classic square cased Santos. The used of the T-bar lug design to secure the strap or bracelet was also a novel design choice which makes this reference stand out.

The dial maintains the classic Cartier styling with the clear white base tone. It has the sectored layout with the railroad minute track to the exterior. The bold roman numerals are set within the sectors, with the 7 o’clock marker having the hidden Cartier signature within the V. Below 12 o’clock is the ‘Cartier’ text with the ‘Swiss’ signing to the base of the dial. The dial has a darkened tone with age and has the crazing to the finish. Please note the sapphire crystal has noticeable marking and scratches, this is not wear to the text on the dial, it is formed marks to the crystal.

The case is well proportioned for a ladies wrist, measuring 27mm wide with a slim depth of 5mm and a total lug-to-lug length of 32.3mm. It has the classic two-tone Santos design with the 18ct gold bezel and stainless case. The 18ct gold bezel is held in place with the 8 steel screws with the polished finish. The top of the case has the thin flat surround to the bezel with the bevel to the edge which leads into the flat case sides. The top and bottom of the case are cut to allow clearance for the strap or bracelet, which affixes via the central lug extension and gold bar design. To the right-hand side of the case is the cut-out section with the octagonal crown, with the sapphire cabochon set to the tip.

The case back is held in place with the 8 screws and is signed with the ‘Santos de Cartier’ stylised text. It is also marked as ‘Quartz, Swiss Made’. To the base the serial number is still visible and it starts with 8191, indicating the reference. There are still signs of the Red in-fill tone to the text.

Inside is the Cartier calibre 81 quartz movement with 9 jewels. It has been recently serviced, with a new battery fitted. It is keeping accurate time.

The watch comes on a Darlena leather strap with the Lizard finish, which has the Cartier gold plated buckle fitted. It will fit up to a 17.75cm wrist diameter.

The watch is modelled on a 17.75” wrist circumference.

The dial is in aged condition. It has the darkened cream tone with the crazing to the surface. The print is clear and unworn.

Hands:
The hands are original and of sword style and are in good condition with the bright thermally blued tone.

Glass:
The crystal is the original Sapphire crystal. It is in poor condition with noticeable marking.

Crown:
The crown is the original Cartier crown. It winds and sets as it should and is in good, aged condition. The facetted saphire is in good condition with an even tone and only light marking.

Bezel:
The bezel is 18ct yellow gold. It has some light surface scratching as expected with age and the brushed finish has polished. The screw heads are in good condition with some light marking.

Case:
The case is made of Stainless Steel and is in decent condition for the age with light surface scratching.

Caseback:
The caseback is formed of Stainless Steel and has a polished. It is in decent condition with the defined signing and legible serial number.

Strap:
The watch comes on a Darlena leather strap with the Lizard finish. It has the Cartier gold plated buckle. It will fit up to a 17.75cm wrist diameter.
