For sale we have a well sized and designed watch, with a complicated movement. This late 1980s, early 1990s La Vallee watch is packed full of functions, with a chronograph seconds hand, constant sub-seconds, 30-minute counter, 12-hour counter, date pointer and moonphase. The gold-plated case is well proportioned, measuring 37mm x 37mm, with a lug-to-lug measurement of 43mm. There is a Stainless-Steel screw back.
The flawless dial is a bright white gloss tone, with dark cream sub-dials. There is a date track around the exterior of the dial, with a detailed second track having 1/5th second graduations. The arrow hour markers are neatly applied in a gold tone. They are three dimensional and have facetted faces. There is a moonphase window at 3 O’clock. This is a very neat and balanced dial, despite its complexity.
There are four centrally mounted hands with a neat gold tone central second hand, black painted sword style hour and minute hands, and a gold tone date pointing hand with red crescent tip. The sub-dial hands are all gold tone too.
The gold plated case is an excellent proportion for a dress piece. It has beautiful lugs, with a subtle and modern adaptation of the horn style, integrating more smoothly into the case. The bezel is double stepped, before meeting the flat sides. The crown is original with a sharp coin edge finish, with the large pushers either side. All are in good condition and function properly. There is a pusher to the side for the date pointer.
The screw back is Stainless Steel, with a polished finish with circular brushing to the centre. It is signed Stainless Steel back, Water resistant 3 ATM, 77.400.
Inside is a Valjoux 7750 movement. It is automatic, with chronograph, 60 second counter, 30-minute counter and 12 hour counter. It has a daily gain of +1 seconds, with an amplitude of 280 degrees and a beat error of 0.3m/s.
