The reference 8020 was created as part of the ongoing collaboration between Girard Perregaux and Ferrari between 1994 and 2004. Ferrari later collaborated with Panerai, which was widely regarded as a failure.
The Girard-Perreguax Ferrari Chronograph 8020 encapsulated the essence of both brands and maximized their partnership. The watch has a 38mm Titanium case, a carbon fibre dial and a Kevlar aramid fibre strap with yellow contrast stitching. This high-quality piece represents a beautiful Ferrari partnership watch, with an esteemed maker.
The crown, dial, pin buckle and case back feature the Cavallino Rampante in a tasteful manner.
It has a 12 hour chronograph, with running seconds at 3, 12-hour chrono register at 6, 30-minute chrono register at 9 and a date window between 4 and 5 O’clock. This is powered by the automatic calibre GP2280 based off of the ETA 2892A2, which has a Dubois-Depraz 2021 chronograph module.
At 38mm this is a neat watch, which packs a punch with its impressive features and more subtle Ferraru nods.
The watch comes with its original box and instructions. It lacks its original warranty card.
This is an excellent example that has been well kept. It has no signs of ageing.
The service history is unknown, however the movement is in good condition keeping very good time. It has a daily loss of -3 seconds, with an amplitude of 290 degrees and a beat error of 0.3m/s.
