For sale we have a 1980s Jaquet Girard Geneve Quartz two-tone watch. It is an interesting of the time, retro Royal Oak homage. It appears to be a homage of the rectangular Royal Oak, the reference 6005.
The brand was founded on June 27th 1946 as R. Jaquet Geneve in Geneva, and was renamed Jaquet & Girard in 1962. Very little clear information about the company exists, however what is certain, is that this is a cool 1980s Quartz watch.
It has gold plated centre links on the brushed stainless bracelet. The bezel is also gold plated. The case is of good quality and is certainly well made with clean lines and a well-executed brushed finish. Inside is a period ETA 954.111 movement, with trimmer and quick set date wheel. The dial is a matte black finish with silver tone applied baton hour markers. It is well balanced with lume plots at 9, 12 and 3, whilst the date window at 6 O’clock. It has a black date wheel and white signing matching the dial. It is signed Jaquet Girard Geneve, Quartz, with ETA Swiss to the foot of the dial. The bracelet has spare links and will fit any wrist size.
Regardless of the homage nature of this watch, it is also an interesting retro watch in its own right, lacking the textured dial and gold accents either side of the bezel. Thus, differentiating it enough from the 1980s Royal Oak.
