The Dunhill Millennium was released in the mid 1980s and represents an exceptional piece of design during an era which offered mixed attempts at pushing the envelope of watch design. This particular piece has a 36mm case which makes it very wearable even by modern standards. This is the largest example of the time only model which makes it desirable. The case is a flying saucer / button shape which is very comfortable to wear and interesting on the wrist. The central lugs with the bracelet design is a very appealing touch. The dial is a bright white tone that shines in the light, with bold Roman Numerals and a date window sat at 6 O’clock, providing great balance to the dial. Inside is a reliable and good quality ETA 955.114 7 jewel Quartz movement.

From a personal perspective, I view Dunhill pieces from this era as exceptional value for money. During this period Dunhill offered high quality watches, with very unique designs. The design and case construction and quality are very similar to that of Cartier during the same period.

The watch comes with spare links, original box and instruction booklet.

The case is in good condition and is formed of Stainless Steel. The case is a very unique piece of design from the 1980s, being circular, falling away to a single line, before curving back in along the same trajectory. It is shaped much like a flying saucer or a smooth button.

The lugs are integrated into the case, sweeping up at the centre of the case with a single piece on the top and bottom. There is a neat and thin 18k gold bezel capping around the dial, holding the crystal in place. It has a brushed finish which is in good condition. The watch does have light surface scratching associated with age.

The case back is stainless steel. It is in good condition, with no dents and only light surface scratching. It has a grained finish which is in good condition. It is signed Water resistant 30m, Swiss Made Quartz, Dunhill, A/D, 7 QNTV, 37917. The writing was original filled with a black tone which has worn with age.

The dial is in perfect condition. It has a gloss white base tone with shines subtly in the light. The date window is at 6 O’clock which is nicely balanced on the dial. The hour markers are roman numerals which are painted on to the dial. The minute / second markers are clear dots which is a nice and uncommon marker. The dial is signed Dunhill below 12 O’clock in the traditional font. The dial is of excellent quality.

The hands are original. They are of sword style. They are black painted and are in excellent condition. The sapphire crystal is in good condition with no noticeable scratches to the surface. There are two small dints to the edge of the right-hand side. These are hard to notice.

The crown is original and has the trademark Dunhill Helix finish. It has a polished face and is in very good condition.

The bracelet is the original Dunhill bracelet. It is stainless steel, with gold tone between each link. The link design is interesting as well as the overall bracelet design. It has a high-quality feel to it, which is more akin to Cartier. The fold over clasp has an applied gold tone Dunhill logo. It fits a 7.5 inch wrist currently, but also has spare links.

The movement is an ETA 955.114. It is a 7 jewel quartz movement with a date indicator and central second hand. The movement is in excellent condition both cosmetically and in terms of function. The movement was a new ETA replacement. It has a daily gain of -1 second every couple of months.
