The Omega Constellation 396.1070/1080 was first introduced in 1987. It has a quartz movement calibre 1444/1445, however this watch has had this movement replaced with the ETA equivalent, the ETA 255/471. It lacks the Omega signing due to this but is the same movement. This makes this example a little less expensive than other examples. Only you and whoever replaces the battery will ever know this.

 

This specific example is from Circa 1990. Overall, it is an example in good condition, with very minimal signs of wear and nothing more than surface scratches. The original brushed finish remains on the top and bottom of the case, along with the bracelet.

 

The movement has been recently serviced and has had a new battery to ensure accurate and reliable time keeping.

 

This was traditionally an overlooked model from Omega, but it’s beginning to receive the love it deserves for it’s unique and clean design.

 

The bezel has roman numerals on it that act as the hour markers. These have a black in-fill which remains intact with no wear. There are some light surface scratches across the bezel.

 

 

The dial has a silver satin finish and is in good condition.  The dial is minimalistic and clean. It has raised index hour markers in a gold tone as well as the roman numerals on the bezel. This creates a layered appearance which is very pleasing.

 

 

The case is slim in profile at 6.5mm meaning it sits neatly on the wrist. It is made from Stainless Steel and is in good condition with light surface scratching.

The hands are original. They are in very good condition with no signs of bending or scratching. The crystal is the original and is Sapphire crystal. It is in perfect condition with no marks or scratches. The crown is the original Omega crown and is made of Stainless Steel. It functions as it should and sets the date and hands.

 

 

The case back is Stainless Steel and is in good condition. The Constellation medallion is clear and the surface around it maintains its original graining.

 

Inside, it is signed: Acier Inoxydable, Omega Watch Co. Fab. Suisse, Swiss made.

The reference is: 396.1070/1080.

 

The bracelet is the original Omega bracelet reference 1448/431.6. It is in very good condition with only light surface scratching. It will fit up to a 7.5” wrist circumference.

Dial:

The dial has a silver satin finish and is in good condition.  The dial is minimalistic and clean. It has raised index hour markers in a gold tone as well as the roman numerals on the bezel. This creates a layered appearance which is very pleasing. The date window is faceted and the date window itself is free of blemishes. All signing on the dial is clean with no wear.

 

Hands:

The hands are original. They are in very good condition with no signs of bending or scratching. The hour and minute hands are in-filled with modern lume which is original and in good condition.

 

Glass:

The crystal is the original and is Sapphire crystal. It is in perfect condition with no marks or scratches.

 

Crown:

The crown is the original Omega crown and is made of Stainless Steel. It functions as it should and sets the date and hands.

 

Bezel:

The bezel has roman numerals on it that act as the hour markers. These have a black in-fill which remains intact with no wear. There are some light surface scratches across the bezel.

 

Case:

The case is made from Stainless Steel and is in good condition with light surface scratching. It is polished on the sides and maintains it’s original grained finish to the top and underside.

 

Caseback:

The case back is Stainless Steel and is in good condition. The Constellation medallion is clear and hasn’t suffered severe polishing from the wrist like many. The caseback appears unpolished, apart from natural wear against the wrist. There are only light surface scratches with no deep nicks or marks. It maintains its original graining.
