1978 Omega Constellation Cal 663 Automatic, Stainless dress watch, Ref 555.0012.
 
This is an excellent example of an Omega Constellation ref 555.0012 from the 1970s, complete with its original box and signed papers dating to 1978.
The condition is very good, with minimal signs of wear considering the watches 43 years of existence.
 
The watch screams 1970s with its chunky and imposing integrated rectangular design. Despite this chunky presence, the watch is very neat on the wrist, wearing much more like a bracelet than a watch. The brushed finish and large links create a fascinating period look.
 
The bronze dial is small as classy with a small raised smooth bezel framing the mineral glass. This dial changes from a grained, Bronze finish in the light, to a near black finish out of direct light.
 
The case back is a faceted design with polished edges and grained finish on the flat of the back. In the centre the Observatory piece sits proudly as it did on any of the Constellation range from this era.
 
Inside is the small but reliable Omega cal 663 with 24 jewels, with rose gold finish.
 
The integrated bracelet fits up to a 20cm (8" diameter) wrist. The watches movement is very healthy and is keeping time to within +40 seconds a day.

Dial:
In perfect condition. A beautiful brushed finish matching the cases graining. Bronze tone which often appears to be black dependent on the light. Beautiful simplicity with baton hour markers.
 
Hands:
The hands are original and in very good condition. Some signs of tarnish beginning on the silvered finish.
 
Glass:
The mineral crystal is in near perfect condition. No noticeable scratches.
 
Crown:
The original Omega signed crown in excellent condition.
 
Bezel:
In very good condition with perfect original grain finish.
 
Case:
Brushed case finish in excellent condition. Some light surface scratching but no deep scratching. Polished faceted edges with minimal scratching.
 
Caseback:
Stainless steel with polished edges and grained back. Light surface scratching on the polished edges to the case back. The graining in good condition. Little wear with original Omega constellation observatory centre piece in great condition.
 
Strap:
Original Omega integrated Bracelet, in very good condition. Minor surface scratching on buckle. The strap will fit up to a 20cm wrist (8" diameter).
 
Movement:
Omega Cal. 663 automatic movement with rose gold finish. Keeping time to +40 seconds a day with an amplitude of 280 and a beat error of 0.1 m/s. A movement in very healthy condition.
