Shackman were based in London and were jewellers who manufactured cases to retail Swiss made watches in the UK market. This was commonplace to avoid import costs on complete watches and gold from other countries, which were very high in this period.

It is important for an integrated gold bracelet to be a reasonable size. This example will fit up to a 7.5” wrist diameter. The bracelet is also in good condition, with no snagging or twists with the protective gold band to the sides.

The case has a solid back, with a removable bezel with front loaded movement. It is formed of 9ct gold and is neatly proportioned, measuring 33.5mm x 33.5mm. It has a polished finish with a brushed face on the rear of the case. Inside it has British hallmarking for 9ct gold from London assay office. The date letter puts the watch to being made in 1974, with the case manufactured by David Shackman & Sons. It has the makers mark “OWC” for Omega Watch Co, with the watch having been made under license.

The integrated bracelet is attached the the main body of the watch. It is of Milanese style and is formed of 9ct gold, manufactured by W.H. Wilmot LTD of Birmingham. It also dates to 1974 with Birmingham assay office hallmarking.

The dial is original. It has some patination to the centre where there is a variation in tone. It is a champagne tone with a brushed textured finish. The hour markers are clean and clear, in a gold tone with black painted centre which ties in nicely with the black painted hands and date window surround. The minute markers are simple dashes. The dial is signed Omega, Geneve Swiss Made. There is a gold tone central second hand. To the right is the Omega signed crown.

Inside is an Omega calibre 1030. It is manual wind and has a jewel count of 17. It also has a quickset date and hacking central seconds. It has a hi-beat frequency of 28,800 BPH. The watch has been serviced by its previous owner approximately one year ago. It keeps time to within +10 seconds a day, with an amplitude of 225.
