The 9ct gold case is well proportioned, measuring 33 mm x 33mm with a lug-to-lug measurement of 40mm. The dial is a minimalist and elegant design with its satin silver base tone and sunburst finish radiating from the centre. The baton hour markers match the hands well and creates continuity of design. The movement is of exceptional quality, being a hi-beat longines calibre 6942.

The front of the case is 9ct gold and is in good condition. There is light surface scratching on the front of the case but no dents. This is a thin case, enabled by the thin movement calibre from Longines.

The case back is 9ct gold and is a snap back. It is in good condition with surface scratching and no denting. The inside of the case back is signed Baume, with the serial number 81739. There are British hallmarks for imported 9ct gold, assayed at London assay office. The watch dates to 1973-74, with the date letter “s”. The DS&S sponsor mark is for David Shackman & Sons, who worked for Longines official UK importers, Baume & Co.

The dial is in good condition for the age. There is one spot of noticeable patina to the lower middle left of the dial. The base tone is a silver satin, with sunburst finish radiating from the centre. This is a simple yet elegant dial, with baton hour markers in a gold tone, with a black strip down the centre, matching the hands. This is a neat piece of continuity of design. The dial is signed Longines below 12 O’clock with the winged hour-glass logo. At 6 O’clock, the dial is signed Swiss Made.

The hands are original. They are in good condition with no bending and minimal corrosion. They are gold in tone and of stick style. There is a black painted line filling the centre of both hands. The central second hand is original and is in good condition.

The crown is a replacement and is gold plated. There is some wear to the gold plate. The crown functions well, setting the hands and winding as it should.

The watch is on a new watch geckota strap.

The movement is a Longines calibre 6942 dating to 1974. It has a central second hand and is manual wind. It is a 17-jewel movement with a power reserve of 40 hours and a Hi-Beat frequency of 28,800 BPH. This is a beautiful and high-grade movement, which has a Spirofin Micrometer regulator.

The service history is unknown, but the movement is in good condition cosmetically and is keeping very good time. It has a daily gain of +2 seconds, with an amplitude of 250 degrees and a beat error of 0.6 m/s.
