For sale we have a neat and well-designed Omega 9ct gold ladies dress watch dating to 1972. It is a squircle shaped case, square with cut corners, resembling a TV shape of the era. The dial is a neat Linen finished Champagne tone, with gold tone applied hour markers. The crown is set with an unsual Tiger eye cabochon. Inside is a manual wind cal 485 movement which is working well with classic rose gold tone finishing. It sits on a period New Old Stock Omega strap with Omega buckle.
The centre piece of the watch is the dial, with its unusual linen cross hatched finish. In a champagne tone this is very elegant, and the finish catches the light well. This dial finish is more desirable due to the texture and complexity it adds to an otherwise minimalistic dial. The hour markers are applied in a gold tone and have a black painted line to the centre which ties in neatly with the Omega signing and the black painted sword hands.
The 9ct yellow gold case is a cut corner square, resembling a TV, which is a typically 1970s case design. It is well proportioned, measuring 23.5mm x 23.5mm, with a lug-to-lug measurement of 30.5mm. It has a shallow depth of 6.5mm. It has a thin raised bezel which gently holds the fitted crystal. This falls away to a subtly curved case top, which falls into the flat polished sides. The lugs are thin and clean continuing the subtly curved theme to the top. They are angled downwards to fit the wrist neatly. To the left of the case is a neat coin edged crown with Tiger eye cabochon inset, another very 1970s touch.
The case back snaps into place. It has a polished exterior with a brushed flat circular face. There is a noticeable dent to the top of the crown side. Inside it has Swiss hallmarking for 9ct gold, with the reference 8444-21.
The watch is proudly presented on a period New Old Stock Omega leather strap with gold plated Omega buckle.
Inside the case is the Omega Cal 485 movement. It is manual wind, with a jewel count of 17, a frequency of 21600 BPH and a power reserve of 46 hours. The service history is unknown, however the movement is in good condition keeping acceptable time. It has a daily gain of +45 seconds a day.
This is a neat TV cased 9ct ladies dress watch, with an uncommon and attractive linen dial and tiger eye cabochon crown. Sitting on a new old stock omega strap and buckle from the period, this is an excellent little dress piece which is ready to be enjoyed.
