Here we have a groovy piece of design. This 1970s Record has the retro oval case design with the matte-satin mixed finish with the horizontal brushed finish. The dial follows the flow of the case with the same Oval shape. It is a warm peach tone with the beige-gold ornamental pattern. It has the applied baton hour markers to the quarters. The hands are the bold stick style. The snap on case back is formed of steel and has the original film to the rear. The movement is the Record calibre 666 which is manual wind. It is in good condition and is keeping accurate time. The watch is in near perfect condition.

We adore this watch due to the way in which it embodies the era it is born out of.

The 1970s represented bold ideas and freedom. The culture was one of individuality and rebellion, the era of free love and groovy style.

The dial represents this in its use of earthy tones and organic free flowing design. The base tone is a warm peach with the beige-gold tone ornamental pattern with the flowing vines, leaves and curving tendrils.

The hour markers are restrained with the batons to the quarters. They have the satin silver strip to the centre with the matte black finish either side. Below 12 is the simple ‘Record’ signing, whilst the ‘Swiss Made’ text is to the base of the dial. The hands are the bold stick style with the satin silver finish, which ties in with the strip to the hour markers.

The case is well proportioned measuring 32.25mm wide with the 40mm length. The front section is chrome plated, with the stainless-steel snap on back. The case is a rounded oval shape, with the smooth, pebble like profile. It provides the perfect canvas for the horizontal brushed finish which has the matte-satin tone. The design is seamless which is aided by the hidden lug design. The sides of the case have the polished finish which catches the light.

To the right-hand side is the neat crown with the coin edge finish.

The case back has the polished outer section with the brushed finish to the face, which is protected by the original film seal.

The movement is the Record calibre 666, which is a 17 jewel manual wind movement. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 bph. It has the adjustable stud holder and KIF shock protection. It is in good condition and is keeping accurate time to within +12 seconds per day.

The watch is modelled on a 7” wrist circumference.
