Launched in 1964, Omega created the first Constellation with the so-called “C” case, which earned its name from the cases resemblance to two Cs. This was a departure from the traditional case shape of Constellations in the 1950s. This reference was also relatively slim, with satin and polished finishes. The larger case (35mm) makes the watch much more universal in its wearability. Without such an understated and conventional case, the C case provides a more “everyday” look.

The main talking point of this piece is the beautiful linen dial. It has a finely cross-hatched textured dial which is in very good condition. It is a beautiful silver tone which appears Champagne in tone under certain light due to aging.

The text is stamped onto the dial and is in black. It is clean and crisp with a slightly rounded feel to the top.

The hands match the indices well and have lume in-fill to the end, whilst also have black paint on the centre. They match the tone of the indices too.

The crown is original and is made of Stainless Steel and gold plated. It has the Omega logo on it, which remains in good condition.

The bezel is 14k gold plated and is smooth and in good condition.

The case is gold plated Stainless Steel. The case has not been polished and has light surface scratching. It maintains its original sharp lines and straight edges. The chamfer to the top is still clearly defined.

The case back is made of Stainless Steel and is polished, with a circular graining to the centre, surrounding the Observatory medal. The medal itself is clearly defined and in above average condition for a medallion of this age.

1041 bracelet with 518 endlinks. It’s correct for the Constellation C-shape model. It is in average condition. It has light surface scratching all over, but no major loss of plate.

The movement is an Omega calibre 564 automatic movement with the serial no. 33050732, which dates it to 1971. This is the original movement calibre 564 which has 24 jewels, is chronometer grade and had a quickset date.

The movement is in average condition for its age cosmetically. The rotors rose gold finish has tarnished slightly. The movement has been recently serviced. It is now to within Chronometer standards again.

Dial:

The main talking point of this piece is the beautiful linen dial. It has a finely cross-hatched textured dial which is in very good condition. It is a beautiful silver tone which appears Champagne in tone under certain light due to aging.

The text is stamped onto the dial and is in black. It is clean and crisp with a slightly rounded feel to the top. There is one blemish on the dial with a scratch near the centre of the hands, to the 3 O’clock side. The top of the dial where it meets the case has some wear.

The indices are well proportioned, with a lume dot at the edge, which is radioactive, meaning it is likely Tritium. The indicates are gold with chamfered edges and black paint on the centre.

Hands:

The hands match the indices well and have lume in-fill to the end, whilst also have black paint on the centre. They match the tone of the indices too. The central second hand is original as it is as long as the minute hand.

Glass:

The crystal is a replacement which fits the profile of the case as the original did. It’s in perfect condition with no scratching.

Crown:

The crown is original and is made of Stainless Steel and gold plated. It has the Omega logo on it, which remains in good condition. It functions as it should, winding the watch and setting the hands.

Bezel:

The bezel is 14k gold plated and is smooth and in good condition.

Case:

The case is gold plated Stainless Steel. The case has not been polished and has light surface scratching. It maintains its original sharp lines and straight edges. The chamfer to the top is still clearly defined. The top of the case has a circular brushed finish which still remains, with the polished chamfer, leading into the light brushed finish on the sides.

Caseback:

The case back is made of Stainless Steel and is polished, with a circular graining to the centre, surrounding the Observatory medal. The medal itself is clearly defined and in above average condition for a medallion of this age. There are some surface scratches and some light below surface scratches. These appear worse in images than in natural light.

Strap/bracelet:

1041 bracelet with 518 endlinks. It’s correct for the Constellation C-shape model. It is in average condition. It has light surface scratching all over, but no major loss of plate.
