For sale we have a good, original example of a 1970 Omega Geneve Reference 135.070. It has an original, unpolished 35mm stainless steel case, with an uncommon, original Blue sunburst dial. The manual wind calibre 601 movement has been recently serviced. Every aspect of the watch is original, with the original Omega crown and the acrylic crystal with the etched Omega logo. The tritium lume plots below the hour markers are also original and are nicely aged.

Omega watches tend to have silver or champagne dials most commonly. Black dials and White dials are also found. However, more vibrant original dials are uncommon. This deep blue sunburst finish is original and is found on a limited number of Omega references. It is eye-catching due to the depth of the tone, as well as the reactive, electric blue tone of the sunburst. The baton hour markers are a silver tone, with a polished finish and an off-white stripe to the centre. To the base of the hour markers are the original, aged Tritium lume plots. The Omega logo and signing is bright, in white, as well as the “Geneve” and “T Swiss Made T" signing. The condition is as good as you will find.

The hands are of luminous stick style, with a mirror polished finish. The hands and dial are protected by the original acrylic crystal with Omega etching to the centre.

The 35mm Stainless Steel case is in good, unpolished condition. It has a flat finish to the top of the case, with straight, slightly tapered lugs. The sides of the case have a high, notched taper which follows the lugs. Below the case angles in towards the case back. The reference correct crown to the right-hand side is good, with coin edge finish and clear Omega logo. To the rear, the screwback has the original brushed finish to the face, with a polished outer section. The waterproof engraving is clear. Inside, it is signed with the reference 135.070. It has the “SGR” mark for Graber S.A., who manufactured the case for Omega.

Inside, the calibre 601 movement is in very good cosmetic condition, with the rose gold tone finish remaining bright and even. It has been serviced by ourselves and is keeping accurate time within 10 seconds a day. It is a manual wind movement, with a jewel count of 17, shock protection and a frequency of 19,800 BPH.

Overall, this is a good original example, with an outstanding dial variation. A very enjoyable model to own.
