The watch was originally purchased on the 23rd of December 1972 from Parsons Jewellers in Bristol. The watch had a single owner throughout its life until we purchased it.

For sale we have a lovely original example of a 1969 Omega Geneve Chronostop Ref 146.009. It is on its original Milanese bracelet, with the original purchase paperwork.

The dial is subtle yet sporty with its clean slate grey tone with powdered finish. The silver tone applied hour markers are futuristic, of a tapered wedge shape, with Tritium lume plots to the base. These give way to the Motor racing inspired chequered flag minute/seconds track to the exterior. There is a pop of colour of the dial with the Omega logo presented bright Orange. The date window sits at 3 O’clock, with the dial faceting to expose the white date window with black Arabic numerals.

The handset is original with the hour and minute hand painted black and white, with tritum lume in-fill. The tapered central second hand pairs nicely with the hour markers and the Orange Omega logo. The bright Orange is a beautiful and standout pop of colour.

The acrylic crystal is original and has the Omega logo etched beneath the centre. The neatly designed crown is Omega signed, with the original monopusher.

The large Oval eye case is formed of Stainless Steel. It has semi hooded lugs, with the bracelet tucking in behind. The bezel has a brushed finish radiating outwards. The case facets to the top and bottom as the lugs fall away to meet the strap. The cases sides and lugs are polished. The screw back is original and is signed “Waterproof Tested 30M”. Inside, it is signed: Omega Watch Co. Fab Suisse Swiss Made, Acier Inoxydable, 146.009, 146.010.

The watch comes on its original mesh bracelet, reference 1120/116 no.27. It is adjustable and will fit any wrist size. It has the Omega signed buckle.

The movement inside is an Omega Cal 920. It is a manual wind movement, with a jewel count of 17. It has a hi-beat frequency of 21,600 BPH and Incabloc shock protection. It is a chronograph movement, with has a 60 second counter, which is started, stopped and reset by the single pusher. There is no quickset date, it changes by cycling the hands from 22-24hrs.

The movement has been well kept and regularly serviced. The movement is very clean. It is keeping time to within -4 seconds a day, with an amplitude of 295 degrees and a beat error of 0.0m/s.

Dial:

The dial has a lovely slate grey tone with a powdered finish. There is a difference in texture between the outer dial and the central section. This creates the appearance of a change in depth, much like a faux pie pan dial. The hour markers are applied in a silver tone, with tritium lume plots to the base. They are a wedge shape, tapering up towards the centre of the dial. The sporty appearance of the dial is aided by the chequered flag style seconds/minute track around the exterior of the dial. There is a date window to 3 O’clock which is faceted, exposing a white date wheel with black Arabic numerals. The dial is signed Omega Chronostop, with a bright orange Omega logo. It is signed Geneve above 6 O’clock with T Swiss Made T either side of 6 O’clock.
