Some watches are so good, when you get the chance to offer them again, you take it. We sold this watch in January of 2021 and purchased it back off the owner when he was looking to thin out his collection.

This is a lovely 1964 Tudor Prince Oysterdate with small rose logo. The dial on this watch is excellent and is in very good condition. The applied hour markers at 6, 9 and 12 are unusual, with a bronze tone strip to the centre. This balances the dial beautifully with the date window and cyclops at 3 O’clock. The silver sunburst finish is also eye catching.

The handset is of Lance style and is original with a silver tone. The acrylic crystal is original and is in very good condition with cyclops magnifier at 3 O’clock. The crown is signed with the Rolex Crown, with the Case being a traditional Oyster style. The case and crown were the same as the Rolex Oysterdate during this period. This case measures 35mm across and 37.5mm with the crown.

The automatic calibre 2462 movement was serviced by ourselves 18 months ago and is still keeping excellent time, within -15 seconds a day.

The watch is presented on a good Debeer Europa Lizard grain strap, with a Stainless-Steel Rolex buckle.

Please see the images as these compliment and aid the condition report provided below.

The dial is completely original and has a silver satin base tone, with a sunburst finish radiating from the centre. The dial is beautifully balanced with 3 well designed markers at 6, 9 and 12 O’clock, with the date window at 3 O’clock. The applied hour markers have a polished silver finish, with a bronze central strip. This is unusual and catches the eye well. The date window has a faceted finish, falling down to meet the window. The other hour markers are long dashes, with small dashes inbetween representing the minutes or seconds.

The dial is signed Tudor Prince Oysterdate with the small rose logo below 12 O’clock. Above 6 O’clock the dial is signed Rotor Self-winding, with the dial marked Swiss below 6 O’clock.

The hands are original and of Lance style. They are silver in tone and are in good condition. They have some speckled marks of light corrosion. The central second hand is also original and is in good condition.

The acrylic crystal is original and is in good condition, with only light surface scratching. It has a cyclops magnifier.

The crown is original and is made of Stainless Steel. It has the Rolex crown logo and is in very good condition.

The case is formed of Stainless Steel and is in good condition. The bezel is polished and has light surface scratches consistent with age. It is a classic Oyster case with a brushed finish on the top of the lugs, falling into a polished finish on the sides, with brushed underside of lugs. The lugs are drilled which makes spring bar removal very easy. The case has been refinished in the past.

The case back is in average condition for the age. It has light surface scratching and has been polished. It has lost definition of the signing to the rear, particularly to the words “By Rolex”.

Inside it is signed Montres Tudor SA, Geneva Switzerland Patented, Stainless Steel IV 64.

The watch is on a Debeer Europa Lizard grain 18mm strap, with a Stainless-Steel Rolex buckle.

The movement is a Tudor calibre 2462. It is automatic calibre, made by ETA and modified by Tudor. It has a sweep second hand, and the date function changes via cycling the hands from 21-24hours. It has a 25-jewel count, with a frequency of 18,000 BPH, with a power reserve of 42 hours.

The movement is in good condition and is working well, having been serviced by ourselves 18 months ago. It is keeping time to -15 seconds a day, with an amplitude of 280 degrees and a beat error of 0.3 m/s.
