Here we 1961 Omega Constellation Chronometer watch which is the reference 14393-61 SC. The reference was first introduced in 1959 and ran until 1962. It has the 34.5mm case diameter with the elongated horn/lyre lug design. The silver sunburst dial has the applied facetted silver tone baton markers, which has the Onyx inserts to the centre. Below 12 is the applied Omega logo with the chronometer signing below. Above 6 is the applied Constellation star motif and stylised ‘Constellation’ font. To the right is the date window with facetted surround. To the right-hand side is the original crown with Omega logo. The case back screws in place and has the gold Constellation observatory medallion. Inside it is signed with the Omega name and the reference number. The movement is the calibre 561 which is a chronometer grade automatic movement. It has been recently serviced and is keeping accurate time.
The dial is clean and classic with its silver sunburst finish. To the exterior of the dial are the dash minute/second markers. The hour markers are three-dimensional applied in the facetted baton style. They are the bright silver tone and have the beautiful Onyx insert to the centre. At 12 o’clock is the double marker to differentiate it, with the date window neatly balanced at 3 o’clock. It has the facetted window with the white wheel and black text. Below 12 is the applied Omega logo with the ‘Automatic Chronometer’ signing. Above 6 o’clock is the Constellation star logo and stylised ‘Constellation’ signing.
The hands are the classic Dauphine style with the black in-fill to the centre. The central second hand has the elegant, tapered finish.
The case is well proportioned measuring 34.5mm. It has the 43.8mm lug-to-lug length provided by the elongated lug design. It is formed of stainless steel and has the neat, bevelled bezel. The lugs are of the elongated horn/lyre style which adds significant presence to the case. They have a neat curvature inwards as well as towards the wrist. The sides have a subtle curvature outwards with the polished finish. To the right-hand side is the original crown with the Omega logo. The case back screws in place with the six notches. It has the famous Omega Constellation gold Observatory logo to the centre. The inside of the case is signed with the Omega logo with the reference 14393-61 SC. It has the ‘CB’ initials for ‘Central watch case co’ who manufactured the case.
The movement is the calibre 561 which is chronometer grade. It is an automatic movement with a jewel count of 24, with the date function. It has a 50 hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 19,800 BPH. It has been recently serviced and has a daily variation of +10 seconds per day.
The watch is modelled on a 7” wrist circumference.

Dial:
The dial is original and is in decent overall condition. Sadly, it has a couple of scratches by 9 o’clock with are reasonably noticeable. The sunburst finish is good and the silver tone is even. The hour markers are good and don’t have any noticeable corrosion. They are inset with the onyx which is clean.
Hands:
The hands are original and are in strong condition with the bright silver tone. There is some corrosion associated with age.
Glass:
The acrylic crystal is a replacement which is in good condition. It does not have the Omega etching to the centre.
Crown:
The crown is original and has the polished finish with the clear Omega logo. It functions well.
Case:
The case is stainless steel and is in decent condition with light scratching associated with age and wear.
Caseback:
The case back is in decent condition with no noticeable marks from poor opening. It does have light scratching and polishing associated with wear. The medallion has polished quite a lot with age, with little definition remaining to the stars.
Strap:
It is presented on a genuine leather vintage style strap which is in unworn condition. It is not Omega.
Movement:
The movement is the calibre 561 which is chronometer grade. It is an automatic movement with a jewel count of 24, with the date function.
It has been recently serviced and has a daily variation of +10 seconds per day, with an amplitude of 300 degrees and a 0.3m/s beat error.
