This watch shares the same movement used in the Rotary Aquaplunge. This model appears to be the sporting/motor racing sibling of the diver chronograph from the 1960s.
This watch has a large Stainless-Steel case, measuring 37mm x 37mm without lugs. This is a typically 1960s case with it’s large proportions and cushion shape sides. The top of the case has a radiating, grained sunburst finish which remains in good condition. The sides have a polished finish.
The outer track is a Tachymetre scale for measuring speed based on time travelled over a fixed distance. The allows the conversion of elapsed time, in seconds per unit, to speed in units per hour. The tachymeter scale measures times from approximately 7 seconds to 60 seconds. The use was predominantly for motor racing or speed-based events.
The dial has a black matte finish with white sub dials, which gives the watch the Reverse Panda name. The original lume remains on the numerals. The sub-second dials have a circular grain radiating from the middle.
The hands are original. The lume infill is original and has a vintage tone to it, which matches the numerals. The crystal is the original acrylic lens. It is in good condition for it’s age having been polished. It has a couple of slight marks on it.
The pushers seem to be 1960s replacements to create a two tone look which was a trend with some chronographs in this period. They are in good condition with no wear to the plating. They look very good with the darkened tone of the lume and the edge of the Tachymetre scale.
The crown is original and is made of Stainless Steel. It is large and has a coin edge. It is a very nicely sized functional crown.
The case back is Stainless Steel and is in average condition. It is signed: Tested at 5ATM, 1206, Swiss Made, Waterproof, Incabloc, Anti-magnetic, Stainless Steel.
The strap is a new genuine leather racing style strap, hand made in Italy. It has a plain Stainless-Steel buckle. It will fit up to a 8” wrist.
The movement is a Landeron 149 which has 17 jewels, Incabloc shock protection, a frequency of 18,000 BPH and a power reserve of 41 hours. This is the same movement used in the Rotary Aquaplunge diver chronograph watch.
The watch has been recently serviced by our watchmaker.
It has a daily gain of -10 seconds, with an amplitude of 330 and a beat error of 1.0m/s.
