For sale we have a classy and simple 1960s Girard Perregaux slim 30mm gold plated dress watch. It has a simple hours and minutes only display with a clean dial and 17 jewel manual wind movement. It is in very good condition, with little signs of wear despite its age. It also comes with its original box, which is rare and well designed.
It has an elegant dial with champagne tone and brushed sunburst finish radiating from the centre. The hour markers are applied in a gold tone, with standout twisted facets to the 3-hour markers, adding a beautiful balance to the dial that catches the eye. No need for a second’s hand with this clean design. The hour hands are simple in a gold tone, with a black painted strip down the centre.
The case is neat measuring 30mm x 30mm with a slim profile of 6.5mm. It is 20 microns gold plated which is a good level of plating, evident by its lack of wear. The lugs are well proportioned and taper inwards gently to follow the lines of the circular case. The crown to the right is recessed into the case, further streamlining this watch. The snap on case back is to the rear with Girard Perregaux signing inside.
To bracelet is period, but non original. It is a nicely made German rolled gold bracelet, with sliding clasp.
Inside is a good 17 jewel manual wind Girard Perregaux calibre with shock protection and a higher beat rate of 21,600 BPH.
Overall, this is a stylish and simple dress watch, suitable as a daily wear or dressed up for dinner. A quality watch, which is well made and durable.
