For sale we have an excellent original example of a late 1950s, early 1960s Favre-Leuba Sea Bird Alarm watch Reference 1034.

It has a beautiful and clean silver sun-burst dial, paired with silver tone mirror polished baton hour markers with cut out centres. The dial is excellently balanced with these clean numerals, with a larger marker at 12 O’clock. The markers have perfectly aged lume plots to the base. The Favre-Leuba logo is applied below 12 O’clock, with simple black Favre-Leuba Geneve signing below. Above 6 O’clock the dial is signed Sea Bird with Swiss Made below 6. The long dash minute/second markers are clear and simple. There is a mirror polished chapter ring surrounding the dial, further enhancing its bright and clean approach.

The hands are of a luminous pencil design, with perfectly aged original lume. The second hand is simple and thin with a silver alarm hand which is thicker with an arrow pointer to the tip.

The Stainless-Steel case is in excellent original condition and measures 35mm x 35mm, with a 37.75mm wide with crowns. It has a 43mm lug width adding to its presence. This is an ideal case size, perfectly proportioned. The case is circular with a flat polished bezel. This gives way to slightly curved and well-proportioned lugs. The sides of the case have a slight facet which adds an angular element to a very smooth case.

The two crowns are matching and have signed hourglass logo with a sharp finish. The case back has a fixed central section with an outer screw ring. It is a great case back with brushed concentric circles to the centre and engraved hourglass logo. It is signed with the reference 1034 and the serial number 53023.

The movement is a AS 1475 manual wind calibre with Favre-Leuba markings. It has a sweep second hand and alarm function. The alarm crown is at 2 O’clock with the handset at 4 O’clock. It has a daily loss of -12 seconds.

This is an excellent example and is such a clean watch from a well-respected brand. This would be a classic in any collection.
