For sale we have an appealing ladies Tissot, dating to 1960. It has a 9ct yellow gold Dennison case, which is hallmarked by Birmingham assay office. It has a silver satin dial, with applied Arabic and arrow alternating hour markers. The Tissot signing is stylish with elongated T. The watch is presented on a period gold plated Bonklip bracelet. Inside is the calibre 13.6 movement, which is manual wind, with shock proofing. It is keeping time to within 60 seconds a day.
The case is circular, with a slight curve to bezel, leading into the flat case sides, before neatly rounding into the flat case back. It has a polished finish which is good and original. The lugs are tricky to find bracelets for due to the unusual design. The Bonklip strap is original to the watch and blends seamlessly with the case design. This gives the watch much more of a complete and luxurious look on the wrist. The Bonklip bracelet can easily be sized to any wrist, with its clip in design. The case is 9ct gold, by Dennison, whilst the Bonklip bracelet is gold plated but only has slight wear to the plate.
The movement is in good condition for the age and has the benefit of shockproofing. It is manual wind and is a good-looking calibre, with the reliability that Tissot in-house movements offer.
This is a watch that looks slightly older than its age. It is much more reminiscent of 1940s design in terms of the case and bracelet. Yet with its stylish arrow and Arabic alternating markers, it is elevated to a more mid-century modern styling.
Overall, this is a sweet little ladies watch that has the luxury of a gold case, with the less costly but still luxurious look of the gold plated Bonklip bracelet. This is a lovely pairing and elevates this watch.
