Here we have an early 1950s Fears Bristol watch, with the 34mm chrome plated case, with the stainless-steel snap on back It is a classic 1950s watch, designed to be a trusty companion through daily life. It is equally adept for wear at work, or as a dress watch on an evening. It combines functionality with form, with elegant aspects such as the gold leaf style hands and gold foil Arabic numerals.
This watch has good vintage sizing, measuring 34mm x 34mm, with a lug-to-lug measurement of 41mm. It is a gent’s model, but its suitable for either a gent’s or ladies wrist. The lug-to-lug length adds to the presence on the wrist.
It is a clean and classic design with a circular case, with curved edges. It has the adorned lugs of horn style which make the watch stand out. The flat bezel has the polished finish which catches the light. The crown sits neatly to the right-hand side with the notched cut out, allowing it to sit closely to the case.
The chrome plating has some wear to the edges of the lugs and light scratching associated with age and wear.
It has a pleasing dial with the aged silver satin tone. It has the simple dash minute track with the gold foil Arabic numerals, which shine in the light. The font is beautiful with the curved style and open 6 and 9. Below 12 O’clock is the ‘FEARS’ signing with ’15 jewels’ below. Above 6 O’clock is the in-set sub-seconds register. It has the grained concentric circles which catch add a lovely texture. The sub-second hand is of lollipop style in the gold tone. The hands are of Leaf style which was classic for the era. They are also in a gold tone which ties in with the hour markers.
The watch is presented on a vintage style genuine leather strap with the stainless-steel buckle.
The movement is an AS claibre 984. It is a manual wind movement with a jewel count of 15. It is working perfectly after its Fears Heritage service and is guaranteed for a year giving you peace of mind. It has a daily variation of +30 seconds.
