1950s 18ct Gold International Watch Co dress watch, cal. 89 movement, IWC watch.
 
This is a petite but beautiful IWC dress watch from 1955 in a 18ct yellow gold case. At 32mm its subtle yet classy on the wrist.
The Manual wind IWC cal. 89 movement inside is a clear example of the understated quality of the watch. The bridge layout on this movement is robust, but incredibly clean with a bevelled edge. The Geneve stripe finishing is also wider than usual and creates a lovely finish to the bridges. The case is signed as well as the movement, all of which is in order.
 
The dial has been expertly refinished to a very high standard. The silver finish is beautiful.
 
Recently serviced, It is keeping time to within -6 seconds a day. Overall it is in very good condition and is an ideal dress watch for a vintage collection.

Dial: 
The dial has been restored to an expert standard with a beautiful silver finish and defined and perfect font for the signing at 12 o'clock. In perfect condition.
 
Hands:
The hands are original and have a beautiful golden shine, with very minimal scratching or corrosion.
 
Glass:
The crystal is a new replacement which is in perfect condition.
 
Crown: 
The crown seems to be original with the gold plate having worn, consistent with the age of the watch. The proportions fit the case very well.
 
Case: 
The case is 18ct solid gold and is in very good condition with only light signs or wear and some surface scratching, as expected with an unpolished watch. There are no dents or deep scratches.
 
Caseback: 
In excellent condition, with very light surface scratches. Unpolished and original.
 
Strap:
A new 18mm Darlena genuine leather watch strap
 
Movement: 
A recently serviced, beautiful IWC cal. 89 movement, with a 17 jewels. It has a power reserve of 36 hours. Keeping time to -6 seconds a day with an amplitude of 299 and a beat error of 1.1m/s.
