This is a classic 1940s military watch, with its thermally blued syringe hands, radium infill and large Arabic numerals with sub-second dial. The case is a quality Stainless Steel design in very good condition. The movement is by Peerex which was trademarked by Stauffer Son & Co. It comes on an original 1940s Bonklip strap.

 

The case measures 30mm x 30mm with a 36mm lug measurement. The case is Stainless Steel and is in very good original condition. It has a brushed finish on the sides, with a polished finish on top of the lugs. The lugs have a sharp, bevelled finish which is completely original.

The top of the case/bezel is double stepped, with the first meeting the central part of the case. The second step is inset from the edge of the case and helps protect the crystal slightly. It has a polished finish.

 

The dial is in good condition for it’s age. It has a silvered satin tone base, which has aged to a neat, cream tone. This is a classic military style dial or tool watch. It has large Arabic numerals, infilled with Radium lume paint. This is original and has aged to a dark cream tone. The sub-second dial is inset at 6 O’clock. It has 12 markers, for each 5 seconds. The 60, 15, 30 and 45 second marks are thicker. The railroad track for the minutes passes around the exterior and is very clear, without wear.

 

The hands are original. They are thermally blued Syringe style hands. They are in good condition with no bending and minimal corrosion. They have Radium lume infill. The minute hand has some loss of lume.

 

The crystal is a new plexiglass replacement. It has one light scratch near the centre.

The crown appears original and has some wear to the plating around the exterior.

 

The case back is Stainless Steel and it’s a snap back. It has a circular grained finish to the exterior. It has the serial number 15097.

 

The strap is an era correct, Bonklip Stainless Steel bracelet. It will fit from a up to a 8.5 inch wrist diameter.  

 

The movement is a calibre by Peerex. The movement is manual wind with 15 jewels and a frequency of 18,000 BPH.

 

The service history is unknown and it has not been serviced by ourselves. It has a daily gain of +71 seconds, with an amplitude of 269 degrees and a beat error of 5.8m/s.

The surface finish has some speckled cracking visible under closer inspection with a loupe. This is a classic military style dial or tool watch. It has large Arabic numerals, infilled with Radium lume paint. This is original and has aged to a dark cream tone. The sub-second dial is inset at 6 O’clock. It has 12 markers, for each 5 seconds. The case back is Stainless Steel and it’s a snap back. It has a circular grained finish to the exterior. It has the serial number 15097. The inside has peerlage finishing and is signed Stainless Steel Back, Swiss Made.

The strap is an era correct, Bonklip Stainless Steel bracelet.

It will fit from a up to a 8.5 inch wrist diameter.
