1940s Jaeger Lecoultre Square Stainless Cased watch, tear drop lugs, Cal. 417/3B. Recently serviced.

This is a rare and attractive Jaeger Lecoultre watch from 1943-1945. The stainless steel case is in wonderful condition with very minimal wear. The Tear Drop lugs give this model real beauty and make it a simple yet elegant dress watch for either a gent or a lady.

The dial is in excellent condition with a cream outer section and silvered grained and lacquered centre. This subtle two tone is incredibly smart. The dial is clear with Arabic numerals and a square sub-second dial.

The movement is a calibre 417/3B that has 17 jewels and a beautiful gilt finish. It is in excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically, having been recently serviced.

Measuring 25mm x 25mm this would have originally been a Gentlemens watch. However now it is considered unisex. The small diameter and length should not put anyone with a wrist over 7 inches diameter off. The Tear drop lugs give this case an increased presence with a lug to lug measurement of 34.5mm. This means it wears larger than it appears. The watch is modelled on my 7 inch wrist.

Recently serviced and functioning perfectly, this is an excellent dress piece to add to a collection, with beautiful design and a high grade movement.

The crown is a later replacement.
