A serviced 23mm x 24mm Tiffany &Co. Art Deco 14kt solid Rose gold gents wristwatch manufactured for the USA market in 1940 and probably originally sold in Tiffany's New York jewellery store. Tiffany ceased making its own watches towards the end of the 19th century and instead collaborated with high end makes such as Jaeger LeCoultre, Rolex, Omega, Audemars Piguet and others to add its name to their watches and retail them in their stores around the world. This watch houses a Jaeger LeCoultre movement. The classic case and original dial present well on the wrist and the movement is running and keeping time.

 

Please bear in mind that Art Deco gents watches from this period were made smaller than contemporary watches (see the dimensions given below) so this watch is also suitable for wear by a lady looking for a vintage watch with retro appeal.

 

Dial: original finish signed "Tiffany & co." with applied gold coloured arrow batons and black Arabic numerals marking the hours 9, 12, 3. A recessed subsidiary seconds dial is located just above the six o'clock position. The glass is clean and clear with some light scratches. 

 

Case: 14 carat solid gold in good condition, measuring approximately 24 mm across, excluding the crown and 25 mm in length excluding lugs. The inside of the case is marked "Cased and timed in the U.S.A. by Le-Coultre,14KT gold", serial number "239200". The case shows the expected signs of use over the years but no signs of abuse, dents or scratches of any significance.

 

Movement: Cal. 428 Le-Coultre 17 jewel movement, signed “LeCoultre Co”. The serial number of the movement is dates the watch to 1940. Just serviced!

 

Strap: A new Brown leather lizard calf strap.
