This is a neat Tissot watch from the late 1930s in a octagonal 9ct gold case, with a complex and well-designed sector dial. It has been recently serviced and has an interesting inscription of “H.T.F.C 12th September 1939”, just before the breakout of WW2.

The case is 9ct and is in average condition. It has polished bevelled edges, with a polished finish all over. The case is 8 sided, being Octagonal in shape.

There are light surface scratches across the watch and also a line of dimpled dents across the top of the case, which is visible in the images.

The case is neat, but surprisingly well proportioned on the wrist, whilst being only 30mm x 30.5mm, but with a 37.5mm lug to lug measurement.

The dial has a silver satin finish with the signing being black. It is of a sector style with a bright silver centre, a lighter silver outer chapter ring and a champagne-coloured chapter ring next to the minute track. This is a lovely and complex dial.

The dial is signed Tissot Non-Magnetic at 12 O’clock with the Swiss made signing at 6 O’clock.

There is a subsecond dial at 6 O’clock which is inset. The minutes are displayed with a simple railroad track, whilst the hours are indicated with Arabic numerals. The 9, 12 and 3 O’clock markers are larger than the others.

The hands are original. They are thermally blued Lancia style hands. They are in good condition with no bending and minimal corrosion.

The crystal is a new plexiglass replacement, which is in perfect condition. The crown is a newer replacement which is in good condition and functions as it should.

The case back is 9ct gold and it is in good condition, with no dents and only light surface scratching. It opens as it should and seals tightly. The hinge is in good condition.

It has the personal engraving “H.T.F.C 12th September 1939”.

The inside of the case back has the Dennison signing and hallmarking for 9ct gold, passing through Birmingham assay office. The date letter is for 1939.

The movement is a calibre 27 from Tissot. The movement is manual wind with 15 jewels, a frequency of 18,000 BPH and a power reserve of 43 hours.  It has been recently serviced and has a daily gain of +13 seconds, with an amplitude of 225 degrees and a beat error of 1.4m/s.
