Here we have a beautiful French market 1934 Omega Steel cased pocket watch, of Art Deco styling. The case measures 48.4mm across with the slim depth of 10mm. It has the snap-on bezel and case back, with the stylised bow to the top of the case. The dial is the aged silver tone with the raised Breguet numerals and outer 24-hour track. The sub-dial is inset with the sectored railroad track and is well sized. The hands are the bright thermally blued tone and are of an exceptional Gothic cross design, one of the finest hand sets we have seen. The rear of the case is flat with the dished edge. Inside it is signed with the Omega logo and the ‘Acier Inrouillable’ text. The movement is the manual wind calibre 35,5L-T1 which has been recently serviced and is keeping accurate time.

The dial is the elegant ivory satin tone. To the exterior are the raised gold tone dot markers for the minutes, with the 24 hour markers. The main numerals are of the Breguet style in the same gold tone. They are beautifully stylised and the raised finish adds texture to the dial. Below 12 o’clock is the classic Omega logo and signing. At 6 O’clock is the well sized, inset sub-second dial. It has the engine turned grained concentric circles, with a classic sectored railroad track. The hand is tapered with the diamond shaped counterbalance.

The hour and minute hand are one of the finest handsets we have seen on a vintage watch or pocket watch. They are the most ludicrous Gothic Cross design with the long-tapered tips. Their form, combined with the electric blue tone, makes these an absolute joy to watch pass around the dial.

The case measures 48.4mm wide by 48.4mm long without the crown and bow. The depth of the case is super slim for the era at just 10mm. The result is a streamlined Art Deco case.

The case is formed of Stainless Steel with the snap-on bezel and case back. The bezel has the polished finish with the dished edge. This meets the centre of the case which pinches outwards. The bow is beautifully stylised, like a handle on a traditional tankard. The crown is neat, sitting within its recess. The case back follows the same form as the bezel, with the face being polished and the bevelled edges. This creates an eye-catching symmetry. The inside of the case has the Omega logo and the ‘Acier Inrouillable’ text which indicates this was manufactured for the French market. The case serial number is ‘8,130,227’.

The movement is the manual wind Omega calibre 35,5L–T1. It has the Geneve striping to the bridges which catches the eye, alongside the Art Deco text of the Omega signing. The serial number is 7,550,459 which dates it to 1934. It has been recently serviced and is keeping reliable time to within 1 minute variation per day.
