1930s Large Art Deco Tonneau ladies cocktail watch two tone 14k gold case & Diamond set bezel.
The case measures 23mm x 33mm without lugs. The case length is 40mm with lugs, which makes this watch wear quite large for a ladies cocktail watch. The tonneau shape is beautiful and is typically Art Deco with a rare two tone 14k gold finish. The diamond set bezel is heavily covered and this creates a very classy cocktail watch.
The dial is a silvered finish with exaggerated Roman numerals which stretch to fit the long case shape.
We think the movement is a replacement due to the length of the canon pinion, combined with the presence of a movement holder too.
The movement is a calibre AS 1726 which was produced in the mid 1930s up until the mid 1960s. It is has 17 jewels and is manual wind, with no shock-proofing. This indicates it is an early version from the 1930s - 1940s. The movement is in good condition for its age. Service history is unknown, but the time keeping is good.
It has a daily gain of -20 seconds, with an amplitude of 225 and a beat error of 0.7 m/s.

Dial:
The dial is a silvered finish with exaggerated Roman numerals. It is in good condition with minimal patina. It has a couple of darker spots. It is slightly off centre and this seems to be due to the replacement movement in the watch.
Hands:
The hands appear to be a replacement, or original but fitted un-usually due to the excessive length of the canon pinion, and likely replacement movement. They are a good fit, being thermally blued and fitting the margins of the watch. They are in good condition, with no bending or corrosion.
Glass:
The crystal appears to be a later acrylic replacement. It fits the case dimensions well and has a bevelled edge. It is in good condition, with nothing more than light surface scratches.
Crown:
The crown appears to be original with a beautiful coin edge. It looks to be 14k gold. It is in excellent condition, with very minimal wear.
Case:
The case is a beautiful and quite large Tonneau shaped case. The case is 14k white gold and yellow gold two tone. It has a diamond encrusted bezel, with this extending onto the lugs too. It is in very good condition, with light surface scratching only.
Caseback:
The case back is 14k Yellow Gold. It is in very good condition, with no dents and only light surface scratching. It has a Swiss hallmark for gold.
Strap:
The strap is a dark Brown, Genuine Leather strap with looped attachment for the lugs. It is brand new.
Movement:
I think the movement is a replacement due to the length of the canon pinion, combined with the presence of a movement holder too.
