For sale we have a handsome example of a 1929 Waltham cushion case watch. It has some stylish touches, in-fitting with the Art Deco era, whilst maintaining a classic appearance with the dial. The bezel has red enamel to the corners which frames the dial, with dotted marking. To the sides of the case is a floral engraving pattern which is elegant. The case is a neat cushion design, with a large original crown adding to the watch’s presence. The dial is enamel and is perfect with stylised Arabic numerals and red minute marking around the outside. The case is base metal, from Illinois watch case co, Elgin Tivoli. Inside is the Waltham grade 365 movement which dates to 1929 and has a jewel count of 15. It has been recently serviced.
 
The cushion shaped case measures 31.5mm x 31.5mm, making it a good fit for any wrist. The chunky original crown also adds significant presence. It is a classic shape of wristwatch which has a charm to it. The case has red enamel to the front, whilst the bezel has a dotted engraving to its perimeter. To the sides of the case is a floral engraving which is well executed and catches the eye. These are neat touches which elevate the traditional enamel dial. The dial still has stylish aspects such as italic Arabic numeral font, whilst it has red minute graduations which tie in with the red enamel work on the bezel.
 
The movement has the classic Waltham engraving with floral marking to the centre and criss crossing lines around the outside of the ¾ plate calibre.
 
A classic American watch, in a stylish form which would standout within any vintage collection.

Dial: 
The dial is enamel and is original. It is in good condition with no major damage, with clear original signing.
 
Hands: 
The hands are original and are of Spade and whip style. They are thermally blued with slight corrosion. 
 
Glass: 
The acrylic crystal is a modern replacement in perfect condition.
 
Crown: 
The crown is original and functions well.
 
Case:
The base metal case is formed of 3 pieces, with a centre piece having the short curved lugs, a snap on bezel and snap on case back. The bezel has engraved sections with red enamel in-fill which is good. All aspects of the case sit flush and tightly as they should. It has some surface scratching associated with ageing. Overall, it is in good condition for the age. 
 
Case back:
The case back is in good condition with the original brushed finish. It has light surface scratching and slight denting.
 
Strap: 
The watch comes on a new genuine leather strap.
 
Movement: 
The movement is a Waltham grade 365 with a jewel count of 15. It has the classic Waltham finishing.
 
The movement has been serviced but is worn and therefore time keeping can be unreliable. It’s keeping time to, on average -120 seconds a day.
