Here we have a lovely example of an early 20th century 9ct yellow gold Antique signet ring which is set with the oval Sardonyx. It has the hallmarking from Birmingham assay office. The Sardonyx of Oval cabochon form, which has the blush pink body with a narrow burnt orange border. It offers a refined pastel tone with an even colour. It is a neat ring, which still has standout qualities with the finely hand engraved notched geometric border around the top of the ring, and the ornate Gothic style scroll and arch motifs to the shoulders.
It is a smaller gents ring, UK size 'P'. The hallmarking is clear with the date letter 'W' for 1921. The makers mark is sadly rubbed.
The stone has some very light nibbles to the edges, evidenced in the photos. It has light scratching to the face of the stone associated with age and wear. The ring itself is well formed with defined hand engraving. It has light surface scratching associated with age. The '9ct' hallmark to the underside of the shank is still visible. It has a total weight of 2.05g.
