Here we have a compact late 1920s early 1930s monopusher chronograph watch. It has the 33.5mm chrome plated case with the stainless-steel back. It has a classic bright white enamel dial with the Breguet style hour markers and red 12. It has the two inset sub-dials with the constant seconds and 9 and 30-minute counter at 3. The hands are of spade and whip style with the eye-catching thermally blued tone. To the right is the coin edge crown with the oval pusher above it for the chronograph. It has the snap-on bezel and case back, with the inside marked as ‘Acier Inrouillable’. The movement is a beautiful single pusher chronograph movement. It appears to be an early Lemania calibre, sharing similarities with the calibre 13CH. It has been recently serviced and is keeping accurate time.

There is something charming about earlier chronographs and it has a lot to do with the dials. The white enamel dials are bright and eye-catching. They provide the perfect base for a legible dial, whilst offering the charm of the earliest trench style watches. They are particularly enjoyable when they have no cracks or fractures to the main section, just like this. The dial is bright white with the seconds track around the exterior. It has single second dashes with 5 second Arabic numerals and detailed 1/5th of second graduations.

The hour markers are of Breguet style with the Italic font. The 12 O’clock numeral is differentiated in red. The sub-dials are inset into the dial creating depth and separation. The constant seconds sits at 9 o’clock with the railroad seconds track. The 30-minute counter is at 3 o’clock.

The hands are original and are a beautiful, broad style of spade & whip design. They are thermally blued with the bright finish that catches the eye. The central second hand is also original with the oval counterbalance and thin profile. The sub-second hand is original with lollipop counterbalance, as is the broader 30-minute counter hand.

The case is a compact sizing measuring 33.5mm x 33.5mm. It has a width with crown of 35.6mm with the total lug-to-lug length of 38.8mm. It has an odd lug width of 15mm which fits the size of the case well.

It is a three piece case design with the snap on bezel, central section with lugs and snap on back. The lugs are a stylish design with the neat taper inwards and sharp downturn towards the wrist. It has the fixed bars in-between which are well formed and sturdy.

It is a smooth case design with the curved bezel flowing into the flat sides. The case back follows the same line as the bezel which creates a symmetry in the case.

It is chrome plated to the bezel and central section, with the stainless steel back. The inside of the case back is marked as ‘Acier Inrouillable’ with the English ‘Chromium Steel Rustless’.

The movement is a single pusher chronograph configuration. It has the bright gilt finishing which is lovely to see. It would appear to be a Lemania calibre, sharing similarities with the 13CH. It has been recently serviced by our watchmaker and has a daily variation of 15 seconds per day.

The watch comes on a new Darlena handmade leather strap for fixed bar lugs. It is glued in place and is a good match to the style of strap it would have originally been on.

The watch is modelled on a 7” wrist circumference.
