1953 Omega Jumbo Dress watch, Over size 38mm,Omega Cal. 266. A large and old dress watch by Omega.
This watch is absolutely huge when compared to my 7" wrist. This is certaintly a watch that satisfies vintage taste for someone with a large wrist.
I will start by saying that this watch does show its age in the dial. The dial has picked up a fair bit of dirt over the years, but it is 66 years of age!
The dial is a cream colour which has darkened over the years. Omega is signed at 12 along side the Omega symbol which is rose gold in tone. This rose gold colouration matches the rose gold hour batons circling the dial.
The sword hands are original, but the sub second hand is unlikely to be original due to its black colouration. This being said, it is a good fit for the sub second dial.
There is an engraved circular pattern radiating across the sub second dial which adds some texture to the face. This is a very simplistic face, as it is a dress watch.
The hour and minute hand show some tarnishing which is to be expected with age.
The crown is signed Omega and would appear to be original and in great condition.
The case is in very good condition with only very light surface scratching.
The insides of the snap on case back is signed Omega watch co and had the model number: 2505-30.
Inside is a large Omega calibre 266. The Omega 266 calibre was produced from 1939 - 1963.
It is a manual wind movement with sub second and is a large movement at 30mm diameter. It has 17 jewels and osolates at a frequency of 18000 A/h, with a power reserve 45h before it needs winding again.
Overall this is a watch with a big prescense which would look great on a larger wrist on an evening for events!
